Hateful Protest 03/02/2011
 
You’ve heard about the church group that goes to service member’s funerals to protest haven’t you?  They have signs that say things like, “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” or “God Hates the USA/Thank God for 9/11.”  From what I’ve gathered there is really no direct link or reason for these folks to protest at that particular funeral except that the person served in the US Armed Forces.  According to this church group from Topeka, Kansas, God is opposed to the US because we as a nation accept or tolerate homosexuality.  This group doesn’t go to the Pentagon or the Capitol in Washington, DC to protest; they protest outside of funeral homes or along the funeral route to the graveyard of individual soldiers.  The lives of these family members have already been shattered and then this group comes along and just plunges the knife in a little deeper.  A family struggling with grief over the loss of a loved one doesn’t need anything else to make their lives miserable.  This group is only adding insult to injury.
